I do research, write and teach in the areas of World Englishes, English as a Lingua Franca and Second Language Acquisition, with particular emphasis on lexical development and use.
I'm the author of Morphology and Mind (Routledge, 1992) and An Introduction to Language and Linguistics: Breaking the Language Spell (Continuum, 2005), as well as numerous articles and book chapters.
My next book, to be published by Routledge in 2011, is Mapping Applied Linguistics. A Guide for Students and Practitioners, co-authored with Patrick Smith and Rachel Wicaksono.
